About us:

Vedette is MVHS's literary arts magazine, first formed in 1960.  We publish student writing and art annually in the spring.  Many of our past issues are available for purchase.  Contact advisor, Kari Krabill, if interested ([email protected]).

What does "vedette" mean?  This is best explained by the forward of the original issue of Vedette:

Forward

In an attempt to provide a wider opportunity for students to express themselves creatively and be heard, VEDETTE has come into being.

VEDETTE is a scout, in one sense, ever on the lookout for original, accurate, and interesting literary material. It is to be hoped that much enjoyment may be derived from the following pages which the editors feel show a variety of talent.

Issue One, 1961

Magazine Submissions

This year Vedette will hold one contest to get its material.  Students submit their art and writing.  Without knowing who created each piece, the Vedette staff then decides which pieces will be published in the magazine and decides a winner for each contest category (art, poetry, fiction, misc. writing).  Winners receive $20 Paragraphs Bookstore gift cards.

You can download the submission forms for ART and WRITING here or pick them up at Mrs. Krabill's room (253).

Contest Schedule for 2023-2024:
 November 1 — November 30
