Day 2, Arrival in Edinburgh

The two traveling groups reunited this afternoon! Group A arrived in Edinburgh around lunchtime, took a brief walking tour, and then spent the rest of the afternoon poking around Old Edinburgh experiencing rain and sunshine in consistent rotation. St. Gile’s Cathedral, The Writer’s Museum, pub fare, local shopping, and hikes for a panoramic view of the city entertained them for three hours on their own. Group B, after a longer layover in Dublin, met up with the rest of the group for dinner at Toby’s Carvery in Edinburgh. The Carvery offered a variety of delicious meats, sides, and desserts, and many of the students had their first taste of Yorkshire Pudding, which is more like a popover or pastry complemented with gravy that accompanies the meal. After more hours than could be counted of airports, layovers, customs, security, and sleeping upright in a seat, students settled into Marston’s Inn for a good night’s rest.
