Mr. Ben Durbin brings experience to MVHS

Mr. Durbin

One of the newest additions to the MVHS faculty is Mr. Durbin. He teaches Chemistry and Applied Science.

During college, he played football for Muskingum University and graduated in 2013 majoring in AYA Earth Science Education.

During his free time, he enjoys doing Crossfit and watching Notre Dame football.

“I’m a huge Notre Dame fan, so during football season, I watch every Notre Dame football game.”

This year is his first year at Mount Vernon, but he taught Chemistry, Environmental Science, and Physical Science at Danville for the previous 5 years, making this his 6th year of teaching.

“The biggest difference I've seen from Danville to Mount Vernon is the class size, and how important and valuable a smaller class size is. The students are still the same, it’s still Knox county, there are just more students in one room at Mount Vernon than Danville”.

When asked about how to describe Mr. Durbin as a teacher junior Zoe Cochran noted his rapport and expertise.

“Mr. Durbin is really nice, he explains everything really well, and he is always there to help you if need it.¨
