First Grade Music

In First Grade students sing folk songs from a variety of cultures, dance, play games and learn to represent sound with symbols such as quarter and eighth notes.  They explore the tonal relationship between pitches and develop beginning music reading/literacy skills.  They continue to develop their skills playing instruments by exploring the sounds of classroom instruments like xylophones.  First Grade students perform in a school concert held in the spring.
