Laine Shoemaker, RN, BSN, LSN

District School Nurse

I am a graduate of Kent State University, where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2005. I have worked in the hospital setting for 13 years prior to starting at Mount Vernon City Schools in 2018. My work experience includes Med/Surg, ER, and Cardiology. I received my School Nurse Certification from Ashland University in 2020 and am a current Licensed School Nurse through the Ohio Department of Education. I divide my time between the eight buildings within the Mount Vernon City School District, which includes the high school, middle school, and six elementary schools. We are lucky to have a dedicated health assistant in each building to help in day-to-day clinic care and overall student health.

Columbia Health Aide

I serve as the Health Care Aide at Columbia Elementary and am honored to be taking care of your children while they are learning at Columbia. I am so excited to be back at Columbia. I used to be the Fast Forward Aide and 2 of my children attended Columbia in Kindergarten through 5th grade and my granddaughter is in first grade. I absolutely love it here.

I am happily married to a wonderful man. I have 4 children and 1 grandchild. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats.

I am excited to get to know all the kids again and to help them when they aren’t feeling well or get hurt at school. I promise to do my best in taking great care of your treasures.
