School Safety

Welcome to Mount Vernon City Schools Safety Page

At Mount Vernon City Schools, we take an 'All Hazards Approach' to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and our staff, it's our utmost priority. We work in close partnership with our local first responders to ensure a safe and secure learning environment. Here's how we're committed to keeping our students safe:

Collaborative Efforts: We collaborate closely with local law enforcement, fire departments, and medical services to create a safe and supportive school community.

School Resource Officer: Our High School/Middle School Campus is equipped with a dedicated School Resource Officer who plays a pivotal role in ensuring a safe and secure campus.

Bus Safety: We've taken measures to enhance safety during transportation. All district buses are equipped with surveillance cameras, providing an additional layer of protection for our students.

Safety First: Our commitment to safety goes beyond these measures. It's embedded in our everyday operations, from classroom practices to emergency preparedness.  We continue to focus on student mental health supports and have added Social Workers in each of our eight buildings, in addition to school counselors and school psychologists.

Safer Schools Tip Line: Mount Vernon City Schools uses the Safer Schools Ohio anonymous tip line for students and families to share information with school officials and law enforcement about threats to student safety -- whether that involves a threat of a mass incident or harm to a single student.

Mount Vernon City Schools is dedicated to maintaining a safe and nurturing environment where students can learn, grow, and thrive. We believe that a secure learning space is the foundation for student success. If you have any questions or concerns related to safety, please don't hesitate to reach out to our dedicated team. Your input is valuable in our ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of our students.
