Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment

The Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment Department leads the academic efforts of the Mount Vernon City Schools. Our office has the responsibility of supporting students, teachers, staff, and community with content knowledge, technology, modern curricular materials and instructional best practices.

Please feel free to contact our department with any questions or concerns regarding our district’s curriculum and instruction.

Our Mission: To provide, in cooperation with the larger community, a quality education for all students by upholding a standard of excellence in curriculum, staff, facilities, achievement and conduct and to graduate individuals empowered to be self-motivated-lifelong learners and responsible citizens.

Our district participates in the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP). The OIP offers a structured process for enacting the essential practices outlined in the Ohio Leadership Development Framework including (1) reviewing district and building data and making informed decisions about instructional practices and supports, and (2) creating and sustaining collaborative processes through a District Leadership Team (DLT), Building Leadership Teams (BLTs), and Teacher-Based Teams (TBTs).
