District Facts

Mount Vernon City Schools serves over 4000 students in grades K-12 and is the 98th largest school district among 613 public school districts in Ohio.  The Mount Vernon City School District's boundary traces over 92 miles and encompasses 145 square miles in Central Knox County. 
 
Eight schools are in operation including six elementary schools with Mount Vernon High School and Mount Vernon Middle School sharing a common campus.  Mount Vernon Digital Academy was a new addition to the district, launched in the spring of 2016. Mount Vernon students are also served by the Knox County Career Center which is adjacent to the High School/Middle School.  The District also operates an administration building and a new transportation/ maintenance center, part of the Educational Gateway Complex which includes Energy Field House completed in 2020.
