Students perform with District Honor Choirs

MOUNT VERNON, OHIO (November 5, 2022) - Our Middle and High School Choirs participated in the Ohio Music Education Association District X Honors Choir Festival on Saturday, November 5th. Students were able to learn and perform challenging pieces of music with other students from many of the surrounding counties. Representing MVMS Choirs were Owen Cook, Neveah Edwards, Faith Major, Eva McKenzie, and Mahra Miller. The MVHS Choir members selected were McKinley Figurski Gabrielle Fuller, Aaron Groves, Emily Hammond, Peyton Hauenstein-Cline, John Humphrey, Wayne Rittenhouse, and Auralie Yoder.

Congratulations to these Choir members, we are very proud that so many of your were able to represent our Jacket Choirs!

The Mount Vernon City Schools Choirs are directed by Trevor Garrabrant. Students are introduced to vocal music from the beginning of elementary school and the program becomes more formalized in middle school with choral specific classes. The Mount Vernon City Schools was recognized by the NAMM Foundation as a Best Community for Music Education in 2016.
