Congratulations Orchestra Class of 2021

MOUNT VERNON, OHIO (April 28, 2021) - Congratulations go out to the MVCS Orchestra Class of 2021 on their final concert! The nine students performed "For Good" from the Broadway Musical Wicked with the Mount Vernon Symphony Orchestra.

The class of 2021 has earned a total of 12 Superior and 10 Excellent ratings on solos, 7 Superior and 4 Excellent ratings on small ensembles, 4 Superior and 2 Excellent ratings at State Orchestra! Three students have auditioned into East-Central Region Orchestra and one student has won the Knox County Symphony's Young Musicians Competition twice. They have also performed with the Newark-Granville Youth Orchestra, the Knox County Symphony, the Senza Misura Choir, the Mount Vernon Music & Arts Festival, and The Ohio State University Viola Day.

The Mount Vernon High School Orchestras are directed by Anthony Springer, assisted by Amy Miller, and consist of over 80 student musicians. The orchestras perform regularly throughout the year for the community and at OMEA events. The Mount Vernon City Schools was recognized in 2016 as a Best Community for Music Education.
