Mount Vernon Seeking New Musicians

MOUNT VERNON, OHIO (May 13, 2016) - Mount Vernon 5th graders attended a special concert on Friday afternoon at the Mount Vernon High School Theater. The students heard a variety of music from classical to pop to jazz performed by the high school Symphonic Band and Orchestra. The concert was the annual kickoff to the instrument recruitment process.

There will be an informational meeting on Monday, May 16 from 7-7:30pm at Mount Vernon Middle School. Parents and students will learn more about how the classes work, how to sign-up for a try-it session, and how to acquire an instrument.

The process will conclude with a Try-it and Sign-up night on Wednesday, May 18 from 3-8pm at Mount Vernon Middle School. Students will get to try out their top 3 instrument choices in a 10-15 minute session. Sessions can be scheduled at the Monday night information meeting. Vendors will also be available to setup instrument rentals.
