Mount Vernon City School's Restart Plan
 On Wednesday evening the Mount Vernon Board of Education accepted the district restart committee's recomendation to go 'Green' this coming fall to start the 2020-2021 school year.  Going 'Green' would have all students returning to school with additional safety precautions and modifications.  The following 20 minute video will walk parents/students/staff/community members thorugh the restart plan.  There is still a lot of work ahead to fill in the many details necessary to begin school in the fall.  We will also include the slides in a PDF format for additional review.  For families who may select to enroll their children in the Mount Vernon City School's Digital Academy and application form is linked below.

MVCSD Restart Planning Model
Mount Vernon City Schools will be utilizing a 'Traffic Light' model for planning purposes to assist in the reopening of schools in the Fall of 2020.  The "Green Light Mode" has the district opening school in the fall as normal with all students attedning school.  While this will be our preference and the starting point of our planning, we continue to wait on the guidance from ODE; ODH; and the Governor for additional assistance.

MVCSD Board of Education conducted the June 15 meeting via video-conference through Zoom due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  In accordance with the recent guidelines in H.B.197, the use of virtual meetings has been approved as a viable alternative to conducting public hearings during this time.  The Reopening Schools discussion begins at 10 min 20 sec and concludes at 21 min 52 sec.  The public is invited to view the live broadcast of the meeting via YouTube Live. 
Summer Lunch Poster MV Schools Summer Lunch Program
Mount Vernon City Schools Food Service summer lunch program started June 2 and will be serving lunches Monday through Friday from 11:00 am to 12:30 pm.  Lunch locations will be Dan Emmett, Pleasant Street, Wiggin Street, The Learning Center, and Mount Vernon High School.  Breakfasts and Lunches will be served.  For the past 20 years, MVCSD food service staff has had the pleasure of providing nutritious lunches to the children of Mount Vernon.

Due to the COVID 19 situation, the Kindergarten registration process has changed for the 2020-2021 school year.   The home attendance area building will now call parents to schedule an appointment during the summer months.  Registration appointments will begin in August.

Ohio Department of Medicaid Logo Ohio Medicaid School Program Annual Notice
The Mt Vernon City School District has the opportunity to receive  Federal Medicaid dollars through a program called the Ohio Medicaid  School Program (MSP). Through this program, school districts can receive  Medicaid dollars for services such as Speech, Audiology, Physical  Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, and  Social Work services.  Read More... for program details.
