Mrs. Darcy Miller and Columbia anchors Ella and Addison. March Board of Education Meeting
The March meeting of the Mount Vernon Board of Education was held at Columbia Elementary School, where Ms. Linda Davis was recognized as Columbia’s “Behind the Scenes” Person by Mrs. Darcy Ewers and news anchors Addison and Ella.  Principal, Andrew Thompson, highlighted what strategies Columbia Faculty and Staff use to communicate with parents.  Read More... for video footage of the March Board of Education Meeting.

History day competitors standing with Mr. Fetters. Henricksen Advances to State History Day Competition
 Four of Mr. Fetters' KAP US History  students participated in the Region 6 History Day research paper contest  on Saturday at Ohio Wesleyan University.  Maddie Henricksen won Region 6, and will compete at the State Competition.   Read More... for details and picture. 
Senior Citizen Flyer Senior Citizens - Your Spring Lunch is Served!
Area  Senior Citizens: Superintendent Bill Seder requests the honor of your presence at the annual Senior Citizens Spring Luncheon, sponsored  by  the Mount Vernon Board of Education.  The luncheon is scheduled for Thursday, April 18, 2019, from noon until 2:00 p.m. at Mount Vernon High School.   Read More... for details and flyer.

Continuing Open Enrollment written on chalkboard. Continuing Open Enrollment for the 2019-2020 School Year
The system is currently open for your intention to continue open enrollment with the District for the 2019-2020 school year.  Complete your application through the Parent Portal on the District web site.  Instructions for Continuing Open Enrollment are located on the Parent Resources Page.  Please understand that you will have until March 31, 2019, to complete this process or it will be assumed that you no longer wish to participate in open enrollment, and your child will be expected to return to his/her resident/attendance area school.  If your address has changed since your last application, please update your child's emergency medical form in the Parent Portal on the District web site.  Instructions for change of address are also located on the Parent Resource Page.

Ohio Department of Medicaid Logo Ohio Medicaid School Program Annual Notice
The Mt Vernon City School District has the opportunity to receive  Federal Medicaid dollars through a program called the Ohio Medicaid  School Program (MSP). Through this program, school districts can receive  Medicaid dollars for services such as Speech, Audiology, Physical  Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Psychology, Counseling, and  Social Work services.  Read More... for program details.
