Welcome to 2nd grade!
This year is going to be amazing! I'm sure by now you are ready to get back to school see your friends, learn some new things, and take home some homework! Ok! Maybe not all of that, but I think you will love 2nd grade!
Be sure to bring your supplies on your first day back so we can get this year started. It is advisable to put your name on everything including crayons and pencils. We want to be sure everyone has their own supplies and can keep track of everything.
Just a little about me: I am a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University. I have been teaching for 30 years and working with children in some capacity for 36 plus years. This will be my 7th year at Pleasant Street. I have taught Head Start, 1-4th grades and 8th grade science. I love teaching all grades, but 2nd is my favorite!
I am married to Scott Sharpes, the lead pastor of Lakeholm Nazarene Church in Mount Vernon. We have two daughters that are married. We also have 6 amazing grand kids that live in Kansas.
You will find that I love animals! In our class, we have Sticky, the leopard gecko. He is now 13 years old and looks great! He loves kids and misses everyone! At home, I have two dogs. Chloe' is a beagle mix that is 6 years old, and Nellie is a Jack Russel Terrier that is 3 years old. They are my buddies at home!
Some of my hobbies are traveling and learning about history of our great country. I really enjoy spending time with my kids and grand kids every chance we get.
I am looking forward to getting to know everyone and partnering with parents to give your child the best education. Please communicate with me as much as needed through Class Dojo or email. I will be sending home information to keep you aware of what is going on each week.
