Laine Shoemaker, RN, BSN, LSN

District School Nurse

I am a graduate of Kent State University, where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 2005. I have worked in the hospital setting for 13 years prior to starting at Mount Vernon City Schools in 2018. My work experience includes Med/Surg, ER, and Cardiology. I received my School Nurse Certification from Ashland University in 2020 and am a current Licensed School Nurse through the Ohio Department of Education. I divide my time between the eight buildings within the Mount Vernon City School District, which includes the high school, middle school, and six elementary schools. We are lucky to have a dedicated health assistant in each building to help in day-to-day clinic care and overall student health.

Wiggin Street Health Aide

I am the health aide at Wiggin St. Elementary and a mom of two boys ages 17 and 7; one having Aspergers Syndrome. I started working with children during my Junior and Senior year of high school when I took 2 years of Early Childhood Development and Education, and then continued working as a pre K teacher at several day care centers. I was an STNA for 13yrs working with Geriatrics , MRDD, and Alzheimer's and Dementia patients. I took a interest in Emergency medicine and decided to attend school and achieve my Emergency Medical Technician license and have been in EMS for many years. My husband is a full time EMT-A/Firefighter and is currently in school for his Paramedic Lisence and graduates this June. Needless to say we are a public safety family and proud to be part of the health care provider community. I couldn't be more honored to now be a part of a great work team and getting to do the best of both passions that has been the heart of me for nearly 25 years.
