Mount Vernon Middle School

Excellence In Education

Patti Dice

Ms. Patti Dice

My name is Patti Dice, and I am excited to be a 6th Grade Math Intervention Specialist!  I work mainly with students on Teams Rimor and Inspiratori.  I began teaching at Mount Vernon Middle School in October of 1991 (I will let you do the math as to how many years I have been teaching).  I love what I do!

I graduated from Otterbein College (now Otterbein University) in 1991 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education 1-8.  All of my field experiences were at the Elementary Level except for one that was at Worthington McCord Middle School.  Over the next four years, I took classes at Ashland University and added my K-12 Specific Learning Disabilities Certificate.  I then graduated from Marygrove College in 2009 with my Masters in the Art of Teaching Elementary Reading and Literacy.  Since then, I have taken several courses to further my knowledge in various areas of several subjects.

I am a proud graduate of Mount Vernon High School!  I was in the Band, both Concert Season and Marching Season.  During Marching Season, I played the Tuba which I also played in the Pep Band.  During Concert Season, I played the Bass Clarinet which I played in the Orchestra too.

I love working with students of all abilities and I love seeing the "light bulb" come on when they finally "get it" or make a connection.  But I have my Masters in Reading...why math?  Math is my passion!  Regardless of the method being taught in math, 2 + 2 = 4, still!

If at any time you need to contact me throughout the school year, please use the information listed on this page.  I look forward to growing each student and having a productive year as we embark on this journey together.  I truly believe there are three main groups in helping a student be successful:  The Teacher working with the student explaining the material in a way that can be understood; the Student putting forth their best effort, doing their work, and asking questions when they get confused; and the parent/guardian supporting the student and teacher in the best way that they can.  If one piece is missing, student success becomes a greater struggle.  Help me help your child to become their best self academically and socially.
