Class Overview:
Hi! My name is Megan Russell. I am an Intervention Specialist working with all students in 7th grade ELA and will also teach my own class of ELA one class period a day. I am so excited to be here at MVMS and look forward to getting to know both you and your student. I believe communication is essential and I love getting to communicate regularly with you. We will be using Google Classroom for announcements and assignments, but I also will have a Remind account where I can send quick “texts” to keep you informed about bigger assignments, assessments, or reminders that deal with your student. I will check my email several times a day and respond that same day if possible. I will not be spending a lot of time in my classroom throughout the day as I spend the majority of my day within ELA classes, but will return any voicemails in a timely manner as well. Truly looking forward to this year and to team with you to make this the best year for your child yet!
Who is Megan Russell Personally?:
I grew up in Seven Hills, a suburb about 20 minutes from Cleveland, with my mom, dad, and two older sisters. We are a very close-knit family who still really enjoy spending time together. I am a huge sports fan, but particularly enjoy basketball. Basketball was a huge part of bringing me to MVNU, which ultimately led me to making Knox County home even after graduation. I met my husband, Caleb, at MVNU and we have been married four years this December. Our son, Caden, was born October 4th! We also have a St. Bernard/Boxer mix that we rescued a little over a year ago named Granger. He is a big baby! I have spent the last four years teaching at Fredericktown and the last 3 years coaching JV Girls Basketball there as well. I will be taking a break from having an official coaching title with our son being born and switching schools this past year, but hope to pick up my coaching career in the near future as a Mount Vernon Yellow Jacket! It’s truly a joy and passion I have. Looking forward to this year and happy to be a part of this team!
