Welcome to Kindergarten!

Hi! My name is Natalie Swanson! I am a Kindergarten teacher at Twin Oak Elementary. Kindergarten is an exciting year! My passion is to promote the love of learning through hands-on learning opportunities. My mission is to create a caring and safe environment where students are encouraged to take risks in their learning. Kindergarten is the most exciting year of learning! So many things take place in kindergarten from learning to line up, to learning to how to take turns, becoming gracious and compassionate friends, learning how to raise your hand, to reading and writing!!! What an incredible year of growth and I am lucky enough to see it all unfold! 

I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a degree in Early Childhood Education and an Endorsement in Reading. I am married to Casey Swanson and we have three children. Cooper is an 8th grader at Mount Vernon Middle School. Callie is 7th grader at Mount Vernon Middle School and Clara is a third grader at Twin Oak Elementary! We love sports, traveling, hiking the mountains of West Virginia, white water rafting in the New River Gorge, going to the beach and snorkeling and our favorite food is pizza! I am very excited to be teaching in the area I grew up in! I love Mount Vernon and I am looking forward to serving you and your child in this wonderful community!
