My name is Tammy Rae Souhrada.  I live in Mount Vernon.  Mount Vernon has been my home since 1995. I am married and have three grown children. I am not quite an empty nester, however, because I currently have two children of the four-legged variety keeping me company. I also love theater. I have written several short plays, acted in many productions, and maintain a position on the community theater board.

I have been employed with the Mount Vernon City Schools for nearly twenty years. I started my employment here as a learning disabilities tutor. After three years I moved to a first-grade teaching position and stayed there until 2021.  Then I decided to use my vast knowledge of reading to help struggling students learn to read and write better in a small group setting.  I became a Reading Specialist.
