I am so excited to start the new school year and meet your kindergartener! I have been teaching with MVCSD since 2008. I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University with a BS in Early Childhood Education as well as Invtervention Specialist. I furthered my education at Walden University to earn a MA Reading and Language Development.
In my spare time you can find me out walking my dogs, working in my yard, or out on the water relaxing. I hope you all have had a restful summer and are ready to have a fun filled year!
Helpful tips for parents:
~Practice tieing shoes, un/fastening buttons, and using zippers
~Practice using restroom independently
~ If your child will be packing their lunch, please begin having them practice opening their food and drinks. Set a timer for the 30-35 min and have your student practice eating and opening their lunch items within the allotted time to help keep our daily routine on schedule.
~ Keep an extra set of clean clothes in your childs backpack for emergencies. While we make every atempt for students to be successful using the restroom, there are occasions where accidents happen.
~ BOYS... For some, this may be the first time seeing urinals. Please take some time and introduce your student on using urinals and how they are not used.
~ Breakfast... If your student is eating breakfast at school, breakfast begins at 8:45 to 9:00. It is highly encouraged that your child is on time for breakfast as it is removed from the classroom promptly at 9:00am.
~Morning line up....Student line up is at 8:40am. My kinders line up on the yellow hand closest to the swings. Pick up is at 3:30 at the side kindergarten door by the swings. Please ensure you have made arrangements for prompt pick up. If there are changes to your students pickup routine, please call the office before 3:00pm. (Mrs. Wilt: 740.393.5950)
