Dear Parents/Guardians,
My name is Margy Arck, and I am honored to serve as the Principal of Dan Emmett Elementary School. With 30 years of experience in education, 29 of those spent in Mount Vernon, I bring a deep commitment to our community and a passion for fostering academic excellence.
I began my career as an Intervention Specialist at the old West Side Elementary and Mount Vernon High School. I then moved to Pleasant Street Elementary, where I taught 1st and 3rd grades. Before becoming the Principal at Dan Emmett, I served as the Assistant Principal at both Pleasant Street and Dan Emmett for two years. I also had the privilege of being the principal for grades 4-8 at Fredericktown for one year before returning to Dan Emmett.
I am a proud graduate of Mount Vernon High School. I earned my bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from The Ohio State University and a Master's in Curriculum and Instruction. I furthered my education with a Master's in Administration from Ashland University, along with completing a Superintendent's License and a doctoral degree.
On a personal note, my husband Phil and I have four children and nine grandchildren. I am an animal advocate and share my home with two dogs, seven cats, and have a long-time love for horses.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Dan Emmett Elementary School. The teachers and staff join me in saying we are excited to have you as part of our school family. I am confident that the 2024-2025 school year will be a successful and satisfying year for you and your child.
We welcome your participation and support throughout the year and look forward to celebrating the achievements of our students with you. We believe that our school, along with the community, must work together in an extended family environment to ensure success for all students. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships.
Yours for Students,
Margy Arck
