My name is Margy Arck and I have been in education for 27 years with 24 years being in Mount Vernon. I started as an Intervention Specialist at the old West Side Elementary and Mount Vernon High School for a year. I then went to Pleasant Street Elementary to teach 1st grade then I went to 3rd grade as a teacher. Before being the Principal at Dan Emmett, I was an Assistant Principal at Pleasant Street and Dan Emmett. I also was the principal of 4-8th grade at Fredericktown.
I am a graduate of Mount Vernon High School and received my bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University in Elementary Education and a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I then completed my Masters in Administration from Ashland University, along with completing a Superintendent's License and worked toward a doctoral degree.
My husband, Phil, and I have 4 children and 7 grandchildren. I am an animal advocate and have 2 dogs, five cats, and a long time love for horses.
It is my pleasure to welcome you to Dan Emmett Elementary School. The teachers and staff join me in saying we are excited to have you as part of our school family. We know that 2020-2021 will be a different year for us but I am sure it will be a successful and satisfying year for you and your child.
We welcome your participation and support during the year and look forward to celebrating with you the achievements of our students. As demands change, it is evident that we all need to work together to ensure that all of our students reach their potential. We believe that all of us, the school, and the community must work together in an extended family environment to ensure success for all students.
I am honored to serve as the Principal of Dan Emmett elementary, and it is truly my privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers, and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships.
Yours for Students,
Dan Emmett Elementary Principal
