Welcome to second grade at Dan Emmett!! This is my seventh year teaching second grade and thirty-second year of teaching. I have also taught kindergarten and third grade. I truly enjoy teaching and watching children discover, learn, and succeed.
I moved to Knox County in 1993 from the small town of Tiffin which is in northwest Ohio. I have lived in Apple Valley, Mount Vernon, and currently reside in Fredericktown. I graduated from Kent State University and I received my Master's Degree from Walden University.
I have taught in Mount Vernon since 1994 and am proud to have played a small part in many Mount Vernon students' lives through the years. After a year of teaching at Pleasant Street and the former West schools, I began teaching at Dan Emmett in 1995. It is exciting each year when I discover I have students in my class whose parents or other relatives were former students in my class or attended Dan Emmett! It is great being part of such a hard-working, dedicated staff since 1995.
My husband and I have two grown sons: Our older son lives in Dublin, and our younger son lives in Waterville which is near Toledo. We are so glad to have both of them still living in Ohio! :)
In addition to teaching, I enjoy walking, gardening, reading, and spending time with family. I am a Cleveland's sports team fanatic. I am also a huge hockey fan, particularly the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings. I am currently in the process of attending games in the Original 6 hockey arenas.
Feel free to contact me through Class Dojo between the hours of 8:00 and 3:45 Monday through Friday. This is the quickest way to reach me. I will get back to you as soon as I am able. Together we will make this a great year for your child!
