My name is Mandy Jemison, and I’m thrilled to begin my 11th year working in Mount Vernon City Schools. After spending a decade teaching second grade, I’m excited to embark on my first year in first grade. Teaching is my passion because I get to witness the incredible growth and development of my students firsthand. Each year brings new challenges and triumphs, and seeing my students learn and thrive is what makes this job so rewarding.
East Elementary holds a special place in my heart because I was once a student here, and my grandma was the principal. The memories of those days are cherished, and now, being back to work here, it truly feels like coming home. I’m incredibly excited to be part of this community again!
I graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education and later earned my Master’s degree in Special Education from Mount Vernon Nazarene University.
I’m married to my husband JJ, and together we have an amazing 3-year-old son named Jalen. He keeps us on our toes and fills our lives with endless energy and joy.
I’m a huge fan of Ohio State football and love spending time with my family, whether we’re traveling, hitting the beach, or just enjoying everyday activities together. I also make sure to stay active with regular exercise and can’t start my day without a refreshing iced coffee.
Here’s to a fantastic new year of learning and discovery!
