I am the counselor for 6th graders this school year, 2022-2023. I will cycle each year with this group until they go to high school. However, we are available for any student who wants to talk with us despite grade level.
I have been a School Counselor since 2006. I have worked in a variety of mental health settings including a half-way house, psychiatric hospital, foster care and in-home therapy as well as the juvenile court system. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Mount Vernon Nazarene College in 1997, a Master's in Clinical Counseling from Regent University in 2003 and a Master's in School Counseling from the University of Dayton in 2006.
I live in Mount Vernon with my wife Heather, who teaches at Twin Oak Elementary. We have five children, Krista who lives in Massillon, OH with her husband Justin and daughter, Bela. Bela’s little sister Sophia is on the way within the next month! Lauren completed grad school at OSU and is working at the Knox Health Department, Madison works for an orthodontist in Powell, McKenna is a freshman at OSU and Nic is a junior at Mount Vernon High School. We also have a golden doodle, Rhylii and a black lab, Sailor, as well as a couple of cats, Lani and Wren!
When I am not in school, I enjoy hanging out with my family, doing yard work, playing games and sports with my kids and target shooting. We love doing things outdoors like taking walks and bike rides, throwing frisbee, shooting basketball and riding atv’s, etc. I also love to watch my Florida State Seminoles! This year, we will be better!!
