Welcome to 2nd grade! This year is going to be amazing with all of the eager learners entering second grade! I look forward to meeting each of you at the “PSES Orientation Night”, which is Monday, August 19th, at 6:00 pm. Doors will open at 5:45 and a presentation will be at 6:00 in each classroom. At this time, students may bring school supplies, find desks and lockers, as well as get to know their new class. I will give out a parent handbook for our class procedures this night as well. There will be sign ups for class parties and a few forms to possibly fill out. I’m looking forward to partnering with you and your child as the year progresses. I can tell this is a “SHARP” bunch!! I can’t wait to get to know you better!
Just so you can get to know me better, I am a graduate of Olivet Nazarene University (a sister school to MVNU). This will be my 28th year of teaching elementary grades Head Start, 1st-4th grades, 8th grade science, reading tutor, and children’s pastor. I love teaching 2nd grade and look forward to another great year at Pleasant Street.
I am married to Scott Sharpes, the lead pastor of Lakeholm Nazarene Church in Mount Vernon. We have been here for 8 years. We have 2 grown daughters that are married and between them we have 5 wonderful grandkids! They live in Kansas, so vacations take us there!
You will find that I love animals! We have Sticky, the leopard gecko, in our classroom. He is 11 years old and loves being at school. At home, I have Rascal, a Russell Terrier that is 14 years old, and Chloe’, our 4 year old Beagle mix, and a little Jack Russell named Nellie. I get lots of love when I get home each day!
My hobbies include traveling to historical places and learning more about the great land in which we live, spending time with my family, and sitting on the beach!
Thank you for entrusting me with your child this year. It is my desire to bring out the very best in each student and encourage each one to find the fun in learning. Let’s work together for your child to become more of an enthusiastic, lifelong learner.
You may contact me through the information below, but as we get started this year, I hope to make easy contact through Class DOJO.
