Day 6, Oxford and Camden
Our trip south continued with a stop in Oxford. The iconic university is made up of 39 colleges, each with their own building and grounds. In our time in the city we had the opportunity to see the Bodleian Library, one of three copyright libraries in the UK, each of which is required to have a copy of every book in the English Language. We walked under the Bridge of Sighs, a nod to the architectural structure in Venice. We then toured New College. The Great Hall and one of the cloisters was familiar to the students because of their connection to the filming of Harry Potter!

After our tour students had the opportunity to explore Oxford. Highlights included shopping and eating at local businesses (namely The Covered Market, McDonald’s, and pastry shops) and climbing the steps to the top of the University Church tower. The 360 degree view allowed us to see the city of Oxford from all angles, including peering behind the walls of many of the colleges.

After gathering in Radcliffe Square, we began our journey to London. Our first stop was Camden Town (Locke) for shopping and people watching before we headed to dinner at Bella Italia enjoying spaghetti with bolognese sauce and DELICIOUS tiramisu.

Our home base for the next few days is in nearby Slough. Being a Moxy hotel, it’s trendy with a lobby filled with games, ping pong, foosball, a gym, and snacks. Tomorrow is a full day with a start in Windsor and a tour through all the Royal spots in London: Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and more. We will finish the night in the theater district with a performance of Guys and Dolls! It will be a full day :)
