Hello Jacket Families!

I wanted to reach out to clarify any confusion on the meet and greet and first flight information.

Tuesday, August 16th from 4-6pm is geared towards students that have experience in the middle school (7th and 8th graders).  There is schedule pick up and students can walk their schedules and greet teachers.  There will not be any formal orientation information for our experienced Jackets.  

The middle school dedicates a special day for 6th grade students on August 18th.  With no other students in attendance, the entire middle school staff is present helping our newest jackets feel comfortable.  That evening, August 18th from 6-8pm, we host parents/guardians for a formal greeting to the middle school.  You will meet the administration and we will share a presentation with you on the philosophy and ins/outs of Mount Vernon Middle School.  Following that presentation, you will be able to walk your student’s schedule and meet the 6th grade teachers.  6th grade teachers DO NOT attend on August 16th.  

We hope that clarifies the difference between the two evenings.  It is not that we don’t want 6th graders at the meet and greet event, we just don’t want you to be disappointed that the teachers are not there and we have really important information for our 6th grade parents that isn’t available on August 16th.
