FFA Attends the 94th National FFA Convention

Mount Vernon FFA members at the National FFA conference.

The Mount Vernon FFA Chapter attended the 94th National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, from October 27th to October 29th, 2021.  Nearly 65,000 FFA members represented all 50 states, and more than 8,500 FFA Chapters were in attendance. The National FFA Convention was held in-person after COVID restricted the event from happening for the first time in history. The convention annually highlights and awards members' success through the FFA and agricultural education.

The National Convention gave members many opportunities. They were able to hear from keynote speaker, Courtenay DeHoff. Courtenay shared her wisdom and advice for members as they continue their path through the FFA. She embraced the gap between urban and rural cities claiming you can be, "A little ranchy and a little fancy."

Members had the opportunity to attend leadership workshops, career shows, and an FFA shopping mall and expo. Members received information from colleges, ag. businesses, and other organizations associated with agriculture. During the evening, they attended the Third General Session.

Members also attended The World’s Toughest Rodeo, convention sessions, and the FFA Career & Trade Show.  The trip allowed all students to return home with long-lasting memories, experiences, and deep ties to agriculture.

The Mt. Vernon FFA members who attended the convention included: Brock Blankenhorn, Oliver Ruprecht, Ethan Retherford , Roan Ramey, Erin Combs, Ashlyn Lust, Vivian Noble, Emilia Camp, Ashiton Hays, Ansley Daubenmier, Anyston VanHouten, and Orissa Humes. Advisor Stephanie Plumly accompanied the students on the trip.

The Mt. Vernon FFA Chapter would like to send a special thanks to the school board members and administration for allowing this trip to be possible.
