Laslo Performs at Republican Luncheon

Jordyn Laslo portrays Charley Parkhurst

Jordyn Laslo, an eighth grader at Mount Vernon Middle School, performed her History Day project from 2016 at the Republican luncheon on February 9, 2017. She has also performed for The Station Break, The Dan Emmett Festival (Chautauqua), and for The Daughters of the American Revolution. In March, she will also be performing at the statehouse for Statehood Day. Jordyn created her individual performance for National History Day in her Language Arts class. Last year's theme was "Exploration, Encounter, and Exchange in History" where Jordyn chose to portray Charley Parkhurst, a tough stagecoach driver from the mid 1800's. Jordyn's project took her beyond the school's judging event to District Competition, State Competition, and eventually the National Competition in College Park, MD. On February 4, 2017, she received a superior rating at the Middle School for this year's competition: "Taking A Stand" with her project, Abigail Adams, which qualified her to once again compete at the District level in March.  Congratulations Jordyn!
