Our New MVCSD Stopfinder App: To Be Better Informed about Your Child's School Transportation

Stop Finder APP for Bus Schedules text over a MVCSD school bus with driver waiving.

Welcome to MVCSD's Stopfinder Secure Transportation Mobile APP!

Mount Vernon City Schools is introducing the Stopfinder app to help families receive important information about their child’s school transportation.  The primary contact on file of each student has been sent an email to activate their subscription and view details about their student's transportation.  The sender's email address no-reply@stopfinder.com. This free and secure mobile app is provided by Transfinder, the company that supports the District’s school bus routing system.

Please follow the following steps to take advantage of this new feature:

Step 1: The primary contact for each student will be emailed an activation link. Follow that link to activate your subscription.
Step 2: Download the Stopfinder app:

Download on the App Store

iTunes PlayStore Link

Step 3: Go to any school day and view the student's transportation information.
Step 4: Make sure you begin by Viewing August 19th, the first day of school.

*FOR STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS WITH ILLUSTRATIONS CLICK HERE.

The app gives parents and guardians an easy way to view their child’s:

1) Assigned bus information
2) Bus stop location
3) Morning and afternoon transportation schedule
4) Transportation updates and messages from the District
5) Notices about bus delays, route changes, or bus substitutions

To receive pop-up messages on your phone, you must remain signed in to the app and allow Stopfinder notifications in your phone’s settings. The app does not need to be open on your screen for you to receive notifications. If you are signed out of the app, you will not receive notifications on your phone until you sign into the app again.

Stopfinder will help keep families informed when transportation information changes. Having this information on your cell phone may make it easier to be informed about your child’s trip to and from school each day.

What You Need to Do
1) Open the Stopfinder invitation email.
2) Select the link in the email and follow the steps to create your account.
3) Download the free Stopfinder app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
4) Sign in using the same email address and password you used when creating your account.55
5) Allow notifications so you can receive transportation messages and updates.
6) Scroll to the First Day of School To See Assigned Bus Information. Frequently check this app for updates to routing information.  As enrollment numbers change, please understand that these times and routes are also subject to change.

You must complete the steps in the invitation email before you can view your child’s information in the app.
If you choose, you can share your subscription with Another Trusted Adult

The primary parent or guardian can share a child’s transportation schedule with another parent, guardian, grandparent, childcare provider, older child, or other trusted person.

To share a student’s schedule:
1) Open the Stopfinder app.
2)Find the card showing the student whose schedule you want to share.
3)Tap the three dots in the upper-right corner of the student’s card.
4) Select Share Schedule.
5) Enter the requested information for the trusted person, including their email address.
6) Select Share.
7) The person will receive an email invitation explaining how to download Stopfinder and create an account. They must use the email address entered when the schedule was shared.

Please keep the following in mind:
1) Only share transportation information with people you trust.
2) Each child’s schedule must be shared separately.
3) Sharing one child’s schedule does not automatically provide access to another child’s schedule.
4) The primary account holder controls who can view the student’s transportation information.
5) Shared access can be removed through the Manage Subscribers section of the app.
6) People receiving shared access should allow Stopfinder notifications on their phones.
7) Stopfinder is another way Mount Vernon City Schools is working to provide families with clear and timely transportation information. Parents and guardians should continue to have students ready at their assigned bus stop before the scheduled pickup time.
8) If you do not receive an invitation or believe your email address needs to be updated, please contact our Transportation Department at 740-393-5995 extension 6700.

Feel free to also navigate to the Stopfinder FAQs:  https://stopfinder.com/faq/ for additional information.

Thank you for helping us communicate better with you!

Yours in Education,
