Our District

Mount Vernon City Schools serves approximately 3,600 students in grades K–12 and is the 111th largest school district among Ohio’s 610 public school districts. The District’s boundaries stretch over 92 miles and encompass roughly 145 square miles in central Knox County, providing educational services to a diverse community that blends small-town values with forward-thinking educational goals.

The District operates eight schools, including six elementary schools, Mount Vernon Middle School, and Mount Vernon High School, which share a common campus. The Mount Vernon Digital Academy, launched in spring 2016, offers flexible, personalized online learning options designed to meet students’ individual needs and learning styles. Students also benefit from access to the Knox County Career Center, located adjacent to the High School/Middle School campus, providing hands-on career and technical education programs.

In addition to its academic facilities, the District maintains an Administration Building, a modern Transportation and Maintenance Center, and The Energy Field House, which supports both athletic and community events.
