Welcome from Superintendent — William Seder Jr.

Welcome to Mount Vernon City Schools! It is both an honor and a privilege to serve as Superintendent in a community that takes such great pride in its schools, its students, and its people. Here in Mount Vernon, Ohio, we embrace the values of hard work, compassion, and collaboration that make small-town life so special. Every day, I’m reminded that “Excellence in Education” is more than just our motto — it’s a commitment that guides everything we do.

Every mile driven, every encouraging word spoken, every lesson taught—it all adds up to something bigger. Together, we are laying the foundation for a bright future, one student at a time. William Seder Jr.

Building Our Future One Student at a Time

Last year, our theme, “Building Our Future One Student at a Time,” reminded us that the future of Mount Vernon City Schools is built through the daily impact each of us has on the lives of our students. This year, we build upon that foundation with our 2026–2027 theme: “One Community, Endless Possibilities.” This theme reflects our belief that when we come together with a shared purpose, support one another, and remain focused on what is best for our students, there is no limit to what we can accomplish.

This school year is filled with possibilities for our students through high-quality instruction, meaningful relationships, and experiences that prepare them for success in school and beyond. Together, as One Community, we can continue building a school district where every student is supported, challenged, and encouraged to reach their full potential.

As we look to the future, we have an important opportunity to shape education in Mount Vernon for generations to come and I am grateful for the continued partnership of our students, families, staff, and community. I am excited about all that we can accomplish together.
