Wiggin Street Elementary School was built in 1904 and was known as the Gambier School until 1961. It presently has grades K-5 and is the oldest facility in the Mount Vernon City School District. Since its construction, two major additions have been made to the original building. In the mid 1920’s, seven classrooms were added, and in the mid 1930’s, a gymnasium was constructed. In the mid 1950’s, an additional area was added that is presently used as the school’s cafeteria.

Wiggin Street School is situated on the beautiful campus of Kenyon College in Gambier. Wiggin Street staff and students greatly benefit from Kenyon’s program support and volunteerism.
