FFA Soils Team Places 13th in the State
Mount Vernon FFA Soils Team
Team members:  Zoe Mock, Ashlyn Lust, Erich Rhodeback and Isabelle Bobo.

On October 12, four Mount Vernon High School FFA members traveled to North Lewisburg, Ohio to compete in the State Soils Career Development Event. Members competed individually in several components of the Agricultural Soils CDE. The contest consisted of 4 soil pits to analyze, a general knowledge exam, and a soil survey test, based on using the land for agricultural purposes. Competitors judged the pits by evaluating landform, slope, structure, texture, water tables, and living organisms and how those properties would affect soil erosion, water quality, compaction, and soil health. Overall, the team placed 13th in the state.
