Mount Vernon Performs at Dan Emmett Festival

MOUNT VERNON, OHIO (August 12, 2017) – The Mount Vernon Music Programs were well represented at the 2017 Dan Emmett Music and Arts Festival. The Mount Vernon Marching Band, under the direction of Andrew Sundman and Megan Aubihl, marched on the square on Friday evening. The South Stage had many performers on Saturday including the Knox Youth Choirs, under the direction of Sarah Reyes and Laura Ackert, the Colonial Kids, directed by Marty Bell, and the MV Summer Strings, directed by Anthony Springer and Amy Miller. Over 150 Mount Vernon students participated in concerts at the festival.

The Dan Emmett Music and Arts Festival, celebrating its 30th year, is the largest arts event in Knox County with over 600 stage acts, craftsman and artisans, and food vendors. The festival celebrates the legacy of Mount Vernon native, Daniel Decatur Emmett. You can learn more about the festival at danemmettfestival.org.
