MOUNT VERNON, OH (April 25,2017) - Spanish students at Mount Vernon High School collaborated with students from Kenyon College on The Great Wall of Los Angeles by Judith Baca. The students will be present their work at the Mount Vernon Public Library on Friday, April 28 at 3:30pm.

The following MVHS students were involved in the collaboration: Hayden Lingel, Marisol Varela-Ausec, Burim Saciri, Kennedy Bell, Max Feller, Chase Holdener, Fiona Keller, Emma Buehrer, and Gennete Saciri.

The Great Wall of Los Angeles is a mural designed by Judith Baca and executed with the help of over 400 community youth and artists coordinated by the Social and Public Art Resource Center (SPARC). It was Baca's first mural and SPARC's first public art project. Its official title is The History of California. It is 13 feet high, painted directly on concrete. With a length of 2,754 feet (840 m) (covering over 6 city blocks) it is credited as one of the longest murals in the world. The Great Wall of Los Angeles depicts the history of California "as seen through the eyes of women and minorities" in many connected panels. Each section of the wall was designed by a different artist under the supervision of Baca.
