Principal's Message

My name is Margy Arck and I have been in education for 26 years with 24 years being in Mount Vernon. I shared my position as an Intervention Specialist at West Side Elementary and Mount Vernon High School for a year. I then went to Pleasant Street Elementary to teach 1st grade and 3rd grade.  Before being the Principal at Dan Emmett, I was an Assistant Principal at Pleasant Street and Dan Emmett. I also was the principal of 4-8th grade at Fredericktown. I graduated from The Ohio State University in Elementary Education and then completed a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. I then completed my Masters in Administration from Ashland University, along with completing a Superintendents License that worked toward my doctoral degree.

My husband Phil and I have 4 children and 5 grandchildren. I am an animal advocate and have 2 dogs, five cats and a long time love for horses.

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Dan Emmett Elementary School.  The teachers and staff join me in saying we are excited to have you as part of our school family.  We know that 2019-2020 will be a successful and satisfying year for your child and you.

We welcome your participation and support during the year, and look forward to celebrating with you the achievements of our students. As demands change, it is evident that we all need to work together to insure that all of our students reach their potential.  We believe that all of us, the school and the community must work together in an extended family environment to insure success for all students.

I am honored to serve as the Principal of Dan Emmett Elementary, and it is truly my privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships.

Yours for Students,

Margy Arck
