Hello! My name is Katie Wilson and I am a First Grade Teacher. This is my seventh year at Dan Emmett Elementary. I graduated from Mount Vernon Nazarene University in 2004 with my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I also earned my Master's degree in Curriculum from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2009.
Upon graduation from Mount Vernon Nazarene University, I began teaching first grade in Whitehall. After that, I taught first grade for 7 years in Mount Gilead. Then, I began teaching here in Mount Vernon and have been here for nearly 7 years. Most of my experience is in first grade but I also got to have the experience of teaching Kindergarten for 1 year. I look forward to many more years of helping young children learn to work together, how to be kind, how to read, and the list goes on. The sky is the limit for first graders!
I live in town with my husband (Chip) and my two children (Cole and Emma). A few of my past times are Crossfit, running, reading, spending time with my family, vacationing and going on adventures.
Teaching is one of my greatest passions and I am so glad to be teaching in Mount Vernon City Schools!
