Pleasant Street Elementary

Excellence In Education

Nancy Lewis

 Mrs. Nancy Lewis

I am a helper! That's why after 30 years of teaching (all at Pleasant Street Elementary), I returned and became a Title One Reading Tutor at the school where I spent my entire career.  During my original time at Pleasant Street, I taught first grade for 3 years, and second grade for 27 years.  After retiring, I spent 4 and 1/2 years as a receptionist at a local veterinary clinic, helping the doctors, animals, and the clients.  But when this job opened up, I came back to PSES, and have been very glad I did!  I realized I missed helping children!

I attended Ohio Wesleyan University, where I received a B.A. degree in elementary education and music.

I am married to a teacher, and we have a daughter who is a teacher.  Guess what?  All of us teach in the Mount Vernon City School District!

Having grown up near Pittsburgh, I am a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers!  I also enjoy getting together with my family and friends, traveling, walking, bike riding, gardening, reading, playing the piano, watching football and basketball, and taking care of animals - especially dogs!  My husband and I have rescued several dogs (we love collies), and are currently training a couple of them to be therapy dogs so they can visit local nursing homes and help make people happy!
