Work hard, get smart!

Hello! My name is Sarah Ott, and I am so excited to join the Columbia team! I have been a teacher for eight years in three different states: Oregon, New York, and Ohio. Over my eight years, I have taught nearly every grade, except third grade.  I received my undergrad degree from The University of Oregon, my Masters of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, and now I am pursuing my Masters of Educational Administration at THE Ohio State University.

I absolutely love being an elementary school teacher for so many reasons. Helping your student grow and gain confidence in their skills is something I take great pride in doing every single day. As a teacher, I encourage students to practice, practice, practice. My belief is: the more you practice, the better you get!  We don't shy away from struggle, we embrace it...we show GRIT, and get smart by trying.
When I am not at school, I love teaching spin classes, running, outdoor cycling, cooking, listening to cicadas, watching the Kenyon Lords and Ladies Swim Team, and hanging out with my cats. I ALSO LOVE WHIIT’S! On the weekends, I enjoy volunteering with The Shane Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship.
