Welcome to second grade at Dan Emmett!! This is my sixth year teaching second grade and thirty-first year of teaching. I have also taught kindergarten and third grade. I truly enjoy teaching and watching children discover, learn, and succeed.
I moved to Mount Vernon in 1993 from the small town of Tiffin which is in northwest Ohio. I graduated from Kent State University and I received my Master's Degree from Walden University.
I have taught in Mount Vernon since 1994 and am proud to have played a small part in many Mount Vernon students' lives through the years. After a year of teaching at Pleasant Street and the former West schools, I began teaching at Dan Emmett. It is exciting each year when I discover I have students in my class whose parents or other relatives were former students in my class or attended Dan Emmett! It is great being part of such a hard-working, dedicated staff since 1995.
My husband and I have two grown sons who are proud graduates of Dan Emmett Elementary and MVHS.
In addition to teaching, I enjoy running, gardening, reading, and spending time with family. In addition, I enjoy watching Cleveland's sports teams. I am also a fan of the Columbus Blue Jackets and Detroit Red Wings. My younger son and I are currently in the process of attending all of the Original 6 hockey arenas, and we are preparing for an International 5K that will take place in May, 2024.
Feel free to contact me through Class Dojo between the hours of 8:00 and 3:45 Monday through Friday. This is the quickest way to reach me. I will get back to you as soon as I am able. Together we will make this a great year for your child!
