Welcome to my webpage at Mount Vernon Digital Academy!

 

This is my 23rd year in public education.  I taught high school math for 12 years in the Mansfield area before becoming a principal for 6 years.  I served on the Content Advisory Committee for the Algebra I AIR state assessment for 4 years.  I have also served on other various ODE committees related to model curriculum for Geometry, principal licensure, and Ohio's Content Standards for Algebra I.  I have earned 2 Associates of Applied Science degrees from the Community College of the Air Force in Personnel Resource Management and Education and Training Systems.  I hold a Bachelors of Business Administration degree from the University of Alaska Anchorage and a Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from the University of Dayton.  I am certified by ODE in 7-12 Integrated Mathematics and 4-9 Principal as well as 5-12 Principal.

 

I am a graduate of Ashland Crestview High School and grew up just north of Mansfield near the Mansfield Lahm Airport and the Ohio State Reformatory.  Immediately upon graduation, I enlisted in the US Air Force and served 10 years in Personnel and Education.  I was stationed at Offut AFB (Omaha,NE), Chanute AFB (Champaign IL), and Elmendorf AFB (Anchorage, AK).  I also worked as a Tax Accountant for a Big Six firm and was the Tax Manager for a major health care system in the Columbus area. I have had several odd part-time jobs:  ski lift operator, drivers ed instructor, shopping mall Santa Claus, tour guide at the Louisville Slugger factory, and usher at Churchill Downs during the Derby.  I currently work part-time at the Home Depot in Westerville as well.

I am married and have 5 grown children and 4 grandchildren.  I live in the country with my wife, Michelle, and I have 2 Bernese Mountain dogs named Elsa and Big Mac.  I was an OHSAA football, basketball, baseball and softball official for 15 years.  I have also coached football and basketball.  I spend my free time as a Red Coat at Ohio Stadium for sporting events (nothing better than getting paid to go to a Buckeye football game!) and I am a content creator on YouTube. I am also a huge fan of Seinfeld, Star Wars, and classic movies ("You Can't Take It With You" being my favorite).
