Special Education Teacher

"I am a Special Education teacher and I believe in contributing and making a difference in my student's lives.  I am committed to working with my students on their skills, presenting new ideas and finding new ways for them to achieve their goals.  I spend time with my students practicing those skills to be sure they get  what they need while advocating for my children and focusing on making them feel special."

Mrs. Sweeney has been part of the Dan Emmett Elementary family since 2006.  She has had the opportunity to support students with special needs in grades kindergarten through fifth.  Mrs. Sweeney graduated from the University of Montevallo, in Alabama, in 1998 with a degree in Early Childhood Education.  She received her Masters in Reading in 2006 from Otterbein College and then decided to get her Special Education License in 2008 from  Ashland University.

Mrs. Sweeney lives with her husband, Sean, and three children, Toni Lin, Evan and Ainsley in the Mount Vernon area since getting married in 2006.  She also has a two dogs that she calls her fur babies.  Mrs. Sweeney loves spending time with her family and going on fun "adventures" such as exploring museums, traveling, having fun shopping and taking walks.
